**Chennai, April 21, 2025** – The Madras High Court today lifted an attachment order on the famed bungalow “Annai Illam,” owned by the late thespian Sivaji Ganesan. The order, issued in February, was related to a loan dispute involving Ganesan’s grandson, R.G. Dusshyanth, and his wife.
The attachment, affecting 13,310 sq. ft. of the 53,240 sq. ft. property, was challenged by Ganesan’s younger son, G. Prabhu. Prabhu argued that he is the sole owner of the bungalow and that his elder brother, G. Ramkumar (Dusshyanth’s father), and other siblings have no claim to it.
The court accepted Prabhu’s argument, agreeing with submissions made by his legal counsel. The T. Nagar Sub-Registrar has been instructed to remove all encumbrance certificate entries related to the attachment.
The loan dispute stemmed from a ₹9.39 crore debt owed by Dusshyanth and his wife to Dhanabakkiam Enterprises. The firm claimed that the loan, taken in 2017 to produce the film “Jagajaala Killadi,” was co-signed by Ramkumar, justifying the attachment of a portion of Annai Illam.
