**New Delhi, April 21, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a new, larger Namo Bharat Express train service on April 24th. The 16-coach train, running between Jayanagar and Patna, will be the first of its size, significantly increasing passenger capacity compared to the existing 12-coach model.
The new service boasts several upgrades, including increased passenger capacity (approximately 2000 seated and an additional 1000 standing passengers), ergonomically designed seating, USB charging ports, fully air-conditioned cabins, and advanced safety features such as the Kavach safety system, CCTV cameras, and fire detection systems. The train will also feature a route map indicator, a first for open-line railways.
According to Railway Board Executive Director Dilip Kumar, the increased capacity and improved speed (a maximum of 110 kmph) will cut travel time in half, benefiting commuters traveling for work, education, and business. The route will serve several key stations including Madhubani, Sakri, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni, and Mokama. Officials also highlighted the potential economic benefits for local businesses, particularly in the handicraft, agriculture, and small manufacturing sectors.
