Mon Apr 21 14:52:10 UTC 2025: ## Kerala High Court Orders Compensation for Wrongfully Accused in 1994 Murder Case
**Kochi, Kerala – April 21, 2025** – The Kerala High Court has ordered the state government to determine compensation for three men wrongfully accused and acquitted in a 1994 murder case. Justice Kauser Edappagath’s ruling stems from a writ petition filed by Baburajan, Biji, and Rafeeque, who were falsely implicated by Guruvayur police.
A subsequent investigation, ordered by the High Court, revealed the actual perpetrators to be nine members of a Muslim fundamentalist group, Jm-Iyathul Ihsaniya. The court directed the government to act on recommendations from the investigating officer regarding compensation for the three petitioners and disciplinary action against the officers responsible for the wrongful accusations.
The petitioners retain the right to challenge the government’s decision regarding compensation or pursue further legal action against the implicated officers if they are dissatisfied with the outcome.
