Sun Apr 20 20:02:25 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Gets 1,111 GPS-Tracked Water Tankers Amidst Political Sparring

**New Delhi, April 21, 2025** – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched 1,111 GPS-enabled water tankers on Sunday, aiming to improve the city’s water supply transparency and efficiency. The initiative, flagged off from DDA Ground, Burari, will allow 24/7 monitoring of tankers from a central control room, enabling action against illegal activities. CM Gupta stated this digital upgrade will particularly benefit areas lacking piped water networks, promising future pipeline infrastructure development in these areas. She also criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for leaving the city with an allegedly disorganized water system and overflowing drainage.

However, the AAP countered these claims, asserting that the GPS-enabled tankers have been in operation since 2015. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP government of “misinformation” and using the initiative for publicity rather than addressing genuine concerns. The political debate continues as the BJP government highlights its efforts to modernize Delhi’s water infrastructure, while the AAP alleges rebranding of pre-existing projects.
