Mon Apr 21 15:52:54 UTC 2025: ## Telangana’s Ruling Party Condemns Congress Leader’s Remarks on Farming

**Hyderabad, April 21, 2025** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telangana’s ruling party, has strongly criticized Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud for claiming that Andhra farmers taught Telangana farmers about agriculture. Former minister V. Prashanth Reddy denounced the statement as an insult to Telangana’s farming community, who have practiced diverse agricultural methods for centuries.

Reddy accused Goud of attempting to appease Andhra Pradesh, a region that historically opposed the formation of Telangana. He highlighted Telangana’s rich agricultural diversity, encompassing cereals, pulses, oilseeds, commercial crops, and spices, contrasting it with Andhra Pradesh’s predominantly paddy-based farming. The BRS reminded Goud that the Deccan region has a long history of paddy cultivation, dating back over a thousand years.

The BRS demanded an unconditional apology from Goud to the farming community and the wider public for his “grossly insulting” remarks. The incident highlights the ongoing political tensions between the ruling BRS and the opposition Congress party in Telangana.
