**Chennai, April 21, 2025** – The Tambaram Corporation in Chennai has received state government approval for a ₹2,915 crore project to install underground drainage systems (UGDs) across several localities. The project, which will be executed in phases, will initially focus on Madambakkam, Sembakkam, and Chitlapakkam, covering 12 wards and 15 village panchayats.
The first phase, costing ₹750 crore, will involve the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) by Royal Haskoning DHV Consultant, through the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited. This initial phase will lay the groundwork for the complete UGD network across the designated areas. The corporation expects to finalize the UGDs in Pammal and Anankaputhur shortly. Currently, Tambaram West and East, Pallavaram, and Chromepet already have functioning UGD systems.
