Mon Apr 21 14:50:00 UTC 2025: **NBA 2025 Draft Order Mostly Set, Tiebreakers and Lottery to Determine Final Spots**

**New York, NY** – The order for the 2025 NBA Draft is largely finalized following the conclusion of the NBA regular season and Play-In Tournament. While the top four picks remain to be determined by the lottery on May 12th, the positions of most teams are now known. The three teams with the best odds at the number one pick and a chance to draft Cooper Flagg are the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets.

Several tiebreakers will determine the final order of some teams. The Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks will split the odds for the 11th and 12th picks, with a random drawing deciding the placement of each. A similar scenario plays out for picks 13 and 14, involving the Atlanta Hawks (whose pick belongs to the San Antonio Spurs due to a trade) and the Sacramento Kings. The outcome of this drawing impacts whether Atlanta keeps the pick or Sacramento retains it, depending on where it falls.

The Miami Heat’s pick (15th) goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a lottery protection clause, and Memphis’s pick moves to Washington because of a trade involving Marcus Smart.

A striking feature of this year’s draft order is the number of teams that don’t control their own first-round picks. Outside the top 12, only the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, and Boston Celtics retain their original selections. This reflects the trend of teams acquiring veteran players through trades involving draft picks. It’s anticipated that a significant number of these picks will change hands again before and during the draft itself. The current order is subject to further changes through additional trades.
