**New Delhi, April 21, 2025** – A Delhi court has summoned ten Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, including Derek O’Brien and Sagarika Ghose, to appear on April 30th. The summons stem from a protest held outside the Election Commission of India (ECI) in April 2024, in violation of a Section 144 order prohibiting gatherings.

The accused, which also includes Santanu Sen, Dola Sen, and others, are charged under sections 188 (disobedience to order), 145 (unlawful assembly), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Delhi Police allege the TMC leaders, despite warnings, proceeded with a demonstration featuring placards and banners, demanding a change in leadership at central probe agencies like the CBI, NIA, ED, and Income Tax Department. The TMC claimed these agencies were targeting opposition parties at the behest of the BJP-led government. The protest followed a meeting between a ten-member TMC delegation and the ECI’s full bench.
