Mon Apr 21 07:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Beijing Tech University Professor Fired After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

**Beijing, China –** Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has fired a senior professor, Gong Lin, following allegations of sexual misconduct with a male student. The 46-year-old former vice dean of the university’s School of Locomotive Engineering was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student, Chang XUQiang, leading to the student developing moderate depression.

Chang, a graduate student, publicly revealed the allegations on Bilibili, a popular Chinese video platform, on April 19th. He detailed a relationship with Gong that began in 2022, during his undergraduate studies, where Gong was his professor. Chang alleges that Gong used her position to influence his acceptance into her research lab and subsequently coerced him into a sexual relationship, which continued until January 2024. The relationship, he stated, involved both on and off-campus encounters.

Chang’s accusations further implicated Gong in embezzlement and exam irregularities. He presented supporting evidence to corroborate his claims.

BIT responded swiftly to the allegations. An official statement released on April 20th confirmed that an investigation had substantiated the core elements of Chang’s claims, finding Gong guilty of serious violations of professional ethics. Consequently, Gong has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from her position, which included roles as vice dean and general manager of BIT Asset Company. Gong, a married mother of two, held a doctorate and had been a professor and doctoral supervisor at the university since 2006. She also held previous positions at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and as a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California.

The incident has sparked widespread public debate in China regarding sexual harassment in academia and the abuse of power by university officials. The university has stated further investigations into the additional allegations are underway.
