Mon Apr 21 16:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Gold Prices Soar to Record High in India, Crossing ₹1 Lakh Mark
**Mumbai, India** – Gold prices in India have hit an all-time high, surpassing ₹1 lakh per 10 grams for the first time. On Monday evening, 24-carat gold reached ₹97,200 per 10 grams in the physical market. Including 3% GST, the price climbed to ₹100,120. This represents a remarkable 26% or ₹20,800 increase since the start of 2025.
The surge is attributed to a combination of factors, according to analysts. Jatin Trivedi, Vice President-Research Analyst (Commodities & Currency) at LKP Securities, noted strong buying at the start of the week, continuing the record-breaking rally. This mirrors a global trend, with COMEX gold nearing $3,400 and MCX gold reaching new highs.
Analysts point to escalating US-China trade tensions as a key driver, increasing global uncertainty and prompting investors to seek safe-haven assets like gold. Rahul Kalantri, Vice President of Commodities at Mehta Equities Limited, added that the weakening US dollar and safe-haven buying further fueled the price increase. He cited President Trump’s recent attacks on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell as contributing to the dollar’s two-year low. Concerns about potential interference with the Fed’s independence are adding to market volatility.
The analysts predict that the gold rally will likely continue until a resolution is found between the world’s two largest economies.
