Mon Apr 21 12:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Gold Prices Soar to Record Highs in Patna: Akshaya Tritiya Jitters

**Patna, April 20, 2025** – Panic gripped Patna’s jewelry market Monday as gold prices hit unprecedented levels, leaving customers shocked, jewelers stunned, and experts speechless. For the first time ever, 24-carat gold crossed the ₹100,000 mark per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold, commonly used in jewelry, surpassed ₹90,000 per 10 grams.

The surge is attributed to a combination of factors, including the upcoming Akshaya Tritiya festival and the ongoing wedding season, which typically boost gold demand. However, the sharp increase far exceeds typical seasonal fluctuations. According to Mohit Goyal, convener of the Pataliputra Sarrafa Sangh’s price determination committee, the international price of gold reached $3380 per ounce, leading to the dramatic price hike in the Asian market.

Goyal further explained that predicting future gold prices is becoming increasingly difficult due to the rapid price escalation. Investment bank Goldman Sachs has even predicted gold could reach $3700 per ounce in the near future, potentially rising to $4500 per ounce by the end of the year. This translates to approximately ₹110,000 and ₹130,000 per 10 grams respectively, in Indian Rupees. This suggests the current price surge could be just the beginning.

**Current Gold and Silver Prices in Patna (April 20, 2025):**

* **24-carat gold:** ₹97,100 per 10 grams (₹100,013 with GST)
* **22-carat gold:** ₹90,300 per 10 grams (without GST)
* **18-carat gold:** ₹75,750 per 10 grams
* **Silver:** ₹96,000 per kg (₹98,880 with GST); Hallmarked silver jewelry: ₹94 per gram.

* **18-carat gold:** ₹73,250 per 10 grams

The escalating prices have raised concerns about the upcoming Akshaya Tritiya festival, a traditionally auspicious time for gold purchases in India. With less than a week remaining, many potential buyers are re-evaluating their budgets, as purchasing gold this year is more of an act of bravery than tradition.

Gold prices have seen a significant increase throughout 2025, rising from ₹78,500 per 10 grams on January 3rd to over ₹100,000 per 10 grams today, representing a surge of approximately ₹22,000.
