**Karimnagar, Telangana, April 20, 2025** – A Karimnagar-based singer and event organiser, Ch. Srikanth, narrowly avoided becoming the victim of a cybercrime scam on Sunday. Fraudsters, posing as Mumbai law enforcement officials, attempted to dupe Srikanth via a WhatsApp video call. They falsely claimed an arrest warrant had been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and demanded ₹3 lakh to prevent his “digital arrest.”
Srikanth, initially apprehensive, became suspicious of the request and recognized the scam. He refused to comply, successfully avoiding financial loss. He subsequently shared his experience on social media, warning others about similar fraudulent activities and urging vigilance against such scams. Police have not yet commented on the incident.
