**Chennai, April 20, 2025** – A group of dedicated hobbyists will be showcasing their remarkable collections of meticulously crafted train models at the upcoming Heritage Train Model Exhibition organized by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The exhibition promises a fascinating display of scale models, ranging from intricately detailed steam locomotives to modern Vande Bharat Express trains.
Among the exhibitors is K.R.S. Ganesan, a retired civil engineer, who will unveil a fully automated HO scale layout controlled by TrainController software. His creation features complex operational features, including automated train scheduling and overtaking maneuvers. Ganesan, who has been perfecting his craft since his retirement, emphasizes the continuous learning and improvement inherent in this lifelong hobby.
Another participant, 72-year-old Sundaram Parthasarathi, a retired mechanical engineer, will present a handmade scale model of the Vande Bharat Express, adding to his impressive 35-year collection which includes previous projects like a model of the Chennai Metro Rail. He handcrafts many of his accessories, and his models have even been commissioned for use by Sterling Resorts.
Seventy-year-old C.B. Malhotra (“Shyam”), a participant for the second year, will showcase an undisclosed piece from his two-decade-long collection, highlighting the joy of sharing this hobby with children. He encourages parents to introduce children to various hobbies to foster creativity and provide alternative entertainment beyond gadgets.
Finally, Mahendra Kumar, an HR manager, will exhibit his collection of steam-based locomotives and train buses, inspired by childhood memories and a recent trip to Darjeeling. He is a member of the exclusive HO Scale Collectors Group.
The exhibition promises a captivating display of craftsmanship and passion, showcasing the enduring appeal of model railroading. The organizers anticipate significant interest from train enthusiasts and the public alike.
