**Jaipur, India** – Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at just 14 years and 23 days old, etched his name in Indian Premier League (IPL) history on Saturday. The Rajasthan Royals batsman became the youngest ever player to compete in the IPL, making his debut against the Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur. His performance was nothing short of spectacular; he smashed a six off his very first ball, bowled by Shardul Thakur, and followed it up with another six and a four in the next over against Avesh Khan.

Suryavanshi, purchased by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore (approximately $134,000 USD) at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, was the subject of a bidding war with the Delhi Capitals. His exceptional talent was evident long before his IPL debut. He first showcased his cricketing prowess at age four, and by nine, he was enrolled in a cricket academy. His rapid ascent through the ranks includes playing for Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at age 12, scoring around 400 runs in just five matches. He also achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the second-youngest player in Bihar’s Ranji Trophy history at 12 years and 284 days old.

Further highlighting his incredible skill, Suryavanshi scored a 58-ball century against the Australian U-19 team in Chennai and a 62-ball 104 in a youth Test match against Australia in September. His impressive performances have also earned him spots in the India B U-19 team and the India A squad. Suryavanshi’s IPL debut marks a significant milestone, not only for himself but for Indian cricket as a whole. His performance signifies the emergence of a young star with immense potential.
