**Chennai, April 20, 2025** – Opposition leaders in Tamil Nadu are sharply criticizing the state government following reports of three deaths and over fifty hospitalizations allegedly caused by contaminated drinking water in Woraiyur, Tiruchi District.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran both condemned the incident on social media, accusing the DMK government of negligence. Palaniswami highlighted that residents reportedly notified the Tiruchi Corporation about the contaminated water fifteen days prior to the deaths, alleging inaction on the part of the government. He questioned the government’s effectiveness and demanded accountability, urging Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to provide compensation to the affected families and ensure safe drinking water statewide.
Dhinakaran echoed these sentiments, blaming the deaths on the inefficiency of the state administration and calling for an investigation into the cause of the contamination and appropriate treatment for those hospitalized.
