**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, April 19, 2025** – A young man in Meerut has become the victim of a shocking marriage fraud, where he was tricked into marrying the mother of the woman he believed he was marrying.
Mohammad Azim, the victim, was reportedly set to marry 21-year-old Manisha. However, upon arriving at the wedding ceremony, he discovered that the bride was actually Manisha’s 42-year-old mother, Tahira. Azim claims he only realized the deception when the bride’s veil was lifted.
Azim alleges that his brother-in-law Nadeem and sister-in-law Shaheda orchestrated the entire scheme, promising him Manisha’s hand in marriage. He stated that the Maulana conducting the ceremony read out Tahira’s name instead of Manisha’s, revealing the fraud. When Azim refused to proceed, he claims he was threatened with a false rape accusation.
Fearing for his safety, Azim immediately left the ceremony and filed a complaint with the Meerut SSP office. The SSP confirmed receipt of the complaint and assured a thorough investigation and appropriate action.
The incident has caused a stir in the local community, with many expressing shock and disbelief at the actions of Azim’s own relatives. The police are currently investigating the matter.
