**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, April 20, 2025** – Madurai District Cyber Crime Police have arrested the mastermind behind a job scam that defrauded a man of over ₹5.5 lakh. The accused, 32-year-old D. Prakash of Tharamangalam, created a fake advertisement for a driver position at Chennai airport, which he posted on social media.
The victim, lured by the advertisement, transferred ₹5,58,902 in multiple transactions to various bank accounts provided by Prakash. Following the transfer, Prakash vanished without providing the promised job.
Police investigations traced a significant portion of the money to Prakash’s account. A special team apprehended him in Salem, seizing seven mobile phones, 10 SIM cards, ATM cards, a passport, a car, and other incriminating materials used in the scam.
Prakash, who previously worked as a loading supervisor at an airport, admitted to using his experience to build victims’ trust. He has a history of involvement in similar fraudulent activities, with prior cases registered against him in Tharamangalam. The investigation is ongoing.
