**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh:** A shocking incident unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a groom discovered his bride was actually her own mother during the wedding ceremony. The 22-year-old groom, Mohammed Azeem, immediately recognized the deception when the woman, identified as the 45-year-old mother of the intended bride, was introduced by a different name than the bride’s. Upon removing the bride’s veil, he found himself married to the mother of the woman he was supposed to wed.
Azeem alleges that the bride’s family, along with the groom’s own sister-in-law and brother-in-law, were involved in the elaborate scheme. They allegedly threatened Azeem with a false rape accusation should he protest. Despite the threats, Azeem filed a police complaint, stating that he had spent ₹5 lakh (approximately $60,000 USD) on the wedding preparations and had been the victim of a massive fraud.
