BHUBANESWAR, INDIA (April 20, 2025) – The Odisha state government has approved the creation of a second battalion for the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF), significantly bolstering the state’s industrial security capabilities. The new battalion will add 1,040 positions to the existing 1,807, bringing the total strength of the OISF to 2,847 personnel.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the proposal on Saturday, citing the growth of industrial activity within the state and the need to maintain law and order in industrial hubs as the driving factors behind the expansion. This move follows a recent meeting between Chief Minister Majhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, where plans to recruit 3,000 personnel for the OISF were discussed. The addition of the second battalion represents a major step towards achieving that goal.
