Sun Apr 20 15:22:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Airport Passengers Struggle After BluSmart’s Sudden Halt
**Bengaluru, April 20, 2025** – Passengers traveling to and from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru are facing significant difficulties securing transportation following the abrupt suspension of services by BluSmart Mobility, a popular electric cab aggregator. The move, which occurred four days ago, has exacerbated an already strained airport transportation system, leaving commuters with long wait times and limited options.
BluSmart, backed by Gensol Engineering, ceased accepting new bookings across major cities including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This decision follows a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) probe into financial irregularities at Gensol Engineering, casting doubt on BluSmart’s long-term viability.
The absence of BluSmart, known for its eco-friendly electric cabs and reliable airport services, has disproportionately affected frequent flyers. Commuters report waiting over 40 minutes for alternative rides from Ola and Uber, a stark contrast to the previously reliable pre-booking option offered by BluSmart. The airport, which handled 41.88 million passengers last year, relies heavily on efficient cab services given its distance from the city center.
The situation is further complicated by a lack of clear communication. Airport staff are now redirecting passengers from the former BluSmart pickup zone to other taxi stands, creating confusion and leaving many stranded without information. Calls for urgent action to address the growing transportation gap are mounting, with concerns that the city’s limited cab fleet is insufficient to meet the demand.
