Sat Apr 19 20:54:37 UTC 2025: ## BJP Distances Itself From MPs’ Criticism of Supreme Court
**New Delhi, April 20, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially distanced itself from critical remarks made by two of its MPs, Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma, targeting the Supreme Court of India and Chief Justice Khanna. BJP president J.P. Nadda issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) declaring the comments to be the MPs’ personal opinions and in no way reflecting the party’s stance.
Nadda emphasized the BJP’s unwavering respect for the judiciary, calling it an integral part of India’s democracy and a crucial pillar in upholding the Constitution. He stated that the party wholeheartedly accepts judicial decisions and directives. He further indicated that he has instructed both Dubey and Sharma, along with other party members, to refrain from making similar statements in the future.
Earlier in the day, Dubey, a vocal Lok Sabha MP, had launched a scathing attack on the Supreme Court, suggesting that if the apex court were to dictate lawmaking, Parliament and state assemblies should be shut down. He also leveled serious accusations against Chief Justice Khanna. Sharma, a former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, also voiced criticism, asserting that no entity can direct Parliament or the President.
The BJP’s swift and decisive rejection of these comments underscores the party’s efforts to maintain a positive relationship with the judiciary. The incident highlights the potential tension between political discourse and the independence of the judicial branch in India.
