Sat Apr 19 19:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Diamondbacks Recall Drey Jameson, Add Power Arm Morillo to Bullpen
**CHICAGO** – The Arizona Diamondbacks received a boost to their bullpen on Saturday, recalling right-hander Drey Jameson from Triple-A Reno after his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Jameson’s return comes as the team placed left-hander A.J. Puk on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation.
Jameson, 27, underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2023 after injuring his elbow in July. In his seven appearances for Reno, he impressed with a 2.70 ERA, striking out 10 batters while walking none in 6 2/3 innings. He expressed his excitement about returning to the major leagues, highlighting the challenges of his recovery. His fastball velocity has consistently been in the mid-to-upper 90s. The Diamondbacks are transitioning Jameson to a full-time relief role this year.
Adding further depth to the bullpen, the Diamondbacks also called up right-hander Juan Morillo, a 26-year-old power pitcher signed to a minor league deal in November. Morillo, formerly with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, has shown improved control this season, showcasing a triple-digit fastball and striking out 18 batters in 13 ⅓ innings between spring training and Reno. General Manager Mike Hazen praised Morillo’s improved strike throwing and significant potential.
The Diamondbacks face the Chicago Cubs in a weekend series, with Zac Gallen starting Sunday’s game against Cubs’ Ben Brown. The series continues with Merrill Kelly facing Jameson Taillon on Monday. Upcoming games include a home series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
