Sun Apr 20 03:26:55 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Royals Teenager Suryavanshi Shatters IPL Records in Debut

**Jaipur, India** – Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) made history in his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut on Saturday, becoming the youngest player ever to feature in the tournament. His explosive innings against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) included a six off his very first ball, cementing his place in the record books.

Suryavanshi’s remarkable debut saw him smashing a six over covers off Shardul Thakur, immediately captivating the crowd at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He ultimately scored 34 runs off 20 balls, including two fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 170.00, before being stumped by Rishabh Pant. His 85-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal was a highlight of RR’s ultimately unsuccessful chase of LSG’s 180/5.

The teenager’s performance shattered three IPL records: he is the youngest-ever IPL debutant, surpassing Prayas Ray Barman’s 2019 record; the youngest to hit a six on debut; and the youngest to hit a four in the tournament’s history. He joins a select group of ten players who have begun their IPL careers with a six on their first ball.

Despite Suryavanshi’s impressive showing, LSG secured a victory by two runs, handing RR their fourth consecutive loss. LSG’s innings was fueled by half-centuries from Aiden Markram (66) and Ayush Badoni (50), and a quickfire cameo from Abdul Samad (30*).
