**Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, April 20, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu celebrated his 75th birthday yesterday. The occasion highlighted his enduring political connection with the Kurnool district and his significant contributions to its development.
Naidu’s deep-rooted political ties with Kurnool are evident in his long-standing relationships with prominent families in the region, including those of former Deputy CM KE Krishnamurthy, the late Minister BV Mohan Reddy, and Minister NMD Farooq. These connections, forged over decades, have shaped the political landscape of the district. This influence is reflected in the party nominations given to family members of these leaders in the 2024 elections. Notably, Naidu successfully united rival political families, a testament to his leadership and strategic maneuvering.
Naidu’s impact on Kurnool’s progress is substantial. He spearheaded numerous infrastructure projects, including the Oravakallu Industrial Park, now receiving a ₹2,800 crore investment under the NDA government for its further development. Other key initiatives include the establishment of a mega seed hub, a cement hub in Kolimigundla, a large solar power unit, and an integrated renewable energy project. His administration also focused on irrigation, completing projects like the Muchumarri project and the Auk Tunnel, and significantly investing in the Handrineeva canal expansion and other large-scale irrigation projects.
The district also benefited from Naidu’s quick implementation of projects such as the Oravakallu airport, completed within 18 months. His commitment to industrial growth is further underscored by the establishment of a DRDO facility and plans for a drone manufacturing industry.
Despite facing political opposition, including a 53-day arrest in 2023, Naidu retained the support of the Kurnool populace, securing two MP seats and 12 MLA seats for his party in the 2024 elections. This unwavering loyalty reflects the strong bond he maintains with the district’s residents. His birthday celebrations served as a powerful reminder of his considerable influence and lasting legacy in Kurnool.
