Fri Apr 18 22:54:00 UTC 2025: ## CPI Condemns Vice President’s Remarks on Judiciary, Demands Naidu Reconsider Waqf Act Support
**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – April 19, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (CPI) has sharply criticized Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s comments on the judiciary, calling them an unacceptable attack on the institution. The party’s state secretary, K. Ramakrishna, also urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw his support for the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill.
Ramakrishna expressed concern over the actions of Governors, many affiliated with the RSS, who are delaying Bills passed by democratically elected governments. He highlighted the Supreme Court’s recent ruling against such delays, emphasizing the Vice President’s comments as undermining democratic principles.
He further criticized Naidu, along with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for supporting the Waqf Amendment Bill, alleging it fuels unrest. Ramakrishna called on Naidu to distance himself from the legislation.
The CPI also questioned the Andhra Pradesh government’s plan to acquire an additional 43,000 acres of land for the Amaravati capital project. Ramakrishna argued that this focus on a single location neglects the comprehensive development of the state, raising concerns about the needs of backward regions. He questioned whether Amaravati and Polavaram are the sole focus of state development.
