Sat Apr 19 03:46:04 UTC 2025: ## Rajamahendravaram Plans 50-Acre Medical City to Ease Congestion

**Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, April 19, 2025** – The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) is proposing a 50-acre Medical City near the local airport to alleviate traffic congestion and improve emergency services. The city currently faces significant challenges due to the concentration of nearly 250 hospitals and clinics in the Danavaipeta area, hindering ambulance access and overall emergency response.

Initial discussions were held on April 17th with representatives from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and hospital managements. The RMC aims to encourage a phased relocation of existing facilities to the new Med City. The IMA is expected to provide feedback on the proposal, outlining infrastructural needs and potential challenges in a feasibility report.

Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg stated that the IMA has been briefed on the project and asked to contribute to its feasibility assessment. City Planner S. Kottayya added that the Med City is a key component of the city’s urban planning strategy. Further discussions are scheduled for May. The project is intended to accommodate both the expansion of existing hospitals and the establishment of new ones. The initiative involves the RMC, the Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority, and representatives from the IMA.
