Sat Apr 19 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Garry Doubts Edwards’ Future After UFC London Loss

**Kansas City, MO** – Rising UFC welterweight star Ian Machado Garry (#7) has cast doubt on Leon Edwards’ future in the division following Edwards’ recent submission loss to Sean Brady at UFC London. Garry, who previously expressed interest in fighting Edwards, now believes the former champion’s career may be over.

“I think Leon’s gone down the swanny now,” Garry told Sky Sports. “I think he’s gonna get absolutely chewed up and eaten up by fighters. I think the fight’s gone out of the bloke. I don’t think he wants to fight anymore. I’d be very surprised if you see him in the Octagon again.”

Garry’s assessment follows Edwards’ back-to-back losses, first to Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title and then the surprising submission defeat to Brady. While Edwards maintains he is still a top contender, Garry points to the fighting styles of Muhammad and Brady as evidence that Edwards struggles under pressure.

“Belal said it. Belal did it. Kamaru Usman said it. Kamaru Usman did it as well at one point, and Sean Brady did the same,” Garry stated. “They brought it to him, and he had no responses. When the going gets tough, he quits.”

Garry’s comments come as the welterweight division is brimming with rising talent like Shavkat Rakhmonov, Jack Della Maddalena, and Joaquin Buckley. Garry himself faces Carlos Prates on April 26th. Whether Edwards will return to the Octagon to face this new wave of contenders remains highly uncertain, according to Garry.
