Sat Apr 19 11:26:13 UTC 2025: ## Four Dead, Many Feared Trapped After Building Collapse in Delhi

**New Delhi, India** – At least four people have died and several more remain trapped under the rubble following the collapse of a four-story building in Delhi’s Mustafabad neighborhood early Saturday morning. The incident occurred hours after the city experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

The building’s sudden collapse was captured on CCTV footage from a nearby alley, showing a flash and a large cloud of dust engulfing the area. Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Fire Services, are working to extricate those believed to be trapped. A senior police officer stated that eleven people have died, fourteen survivors have been found, and an estimated eight to ten individuals are still feared trapped. The injured are receiving treatment at GTB hospital.

NDRF officials described the collapse as a “pancake collapse,” where the structure fell vertically, significantly reducing the chances of survival for those trapped beneath. However, rescue efforts are ongoing, hampered by the congested area, which limits the use of heavy machinery. The cause of the collapse is under investigation, though officials acknowledge the heavy downpour preceding the incident.

Heartbreaking accounts emerged from residents. One man recounted the loss of two nephews, while his sister, brother-in-law, and niece were injured. Another reported that an entire family of eight is missing following the collapse. The incident has left the community devastated and anxiously awaiting further developments in the ongoing rescue operation.
