VIJAYAWADA, April 19, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh is significantly upgrading its power transmission infrastructure with a ₹4,965 crore investment in 55 projects. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand announced that these projects, which include boosting ICT capacity and installing additional bus reactors, are underway and slated for completion over the next two financial years.
Eighteen projects costing ₹1,095 crore have already been commissioned, enhancing power evacuation capacity and addressing rising energy demand. Further, AP-Transco has placed orders for ten more projects worth ₹3,407 crore, and tenders are open for an additional 47 projects valued at ₹5,323 crore. These upgrades aim to improve grid reliability and operational efficiency.
The state power utility is also modernizing its infrastructure by integrating advanced technologies like SCADA systems and automation in substations. This modernization is expected to improve real-time monitoring, efficiency, and reduce energy losses. The upgrades are crucial to meet the growing daily power consumption, projected to reach 260 Million Units (MU) in the coming months. The Chief Secretary emphasized AP-Transco’s commitment to delivering reliable power and minimizing transmission losses.
