**KOCHI, KERALA –** Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested by Kochi City police on April 19, 2025, following questioning related to an incident where he fled a hotel during a drug raid. While acquitted earlier this year in a separate 2015 drug case, Mr. Chacko was summoned for questioning regarding his actions at a Kaloor hotel on Wednesday night.
According to police reports, the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) conducted a raid at the hotel based on a tip-off about a drug peddler. Upon discovering Mr. Chacko’s presence, officers attempted to question him. However, Mr. Chacko reportedly fled the hotel, claiming he mistook the police for assailants. He allegedly escaped through a window, traversing the building’s exterior before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Police have collected evidence, including CCTV footage of the escape, Mr. Chacko’s mobile phone data and WhatsApp chats. He has been booked under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for consumption and conspiracy, although the charges are bailable. No drugs were found in his hotel room during the search. The investigation is ongoing.
