Sat Apr 19 10:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Boston Announces Extensive Parking Restrictions for Marathon Weekend and Patriots’ Day

**Boston, MA –** The City of Boston announced significant parking restrictions and street closures for Marathon Weekend (April 19-20, 2025) and Patriots’ Day (April 21, 2025). These measures are in place to accommodate the 129th Boston Marathon, the BAA 5K, the Invitational Mile, One Boston Day (April 15th), and the Patriots’ Day Parade.

Marathon Weekend will feature the BAA 5K (starting at 8:00 a.m. on Boylston Street, with 10,000 expected participants) and the Invitational Mile (starting at 11:00 a.m., route to be posted). The Patriots’ Day Parade will begin with a ceremony at City Hall Plaza around 9:15 a.m., with an expected 500 attendees.

The city strongly urges attendees to avoid driving personal vehicles. Public transportation (MBTA – information available on their website), Bluebikes (information available on their website), and walking are encouraged. The MBTA advises purchasing round-trip tickets for faster return travel.

Specific parking restrictions will be in effect on Clarendon Street (both sides), from Newbury Street to Stuart Street, and other areas along the Marathon route. The Boston Athletic Association and the Boston Transportation Department are removing flexposts along the Marathon route, replacing them temporarily with cones where necessary for safety. Flexposts will be removed by April 18th and reinstalled by April 24th, with a modified configuration on Boylston Street.

The City of Boston Police and Transportation Departments may make further changes to restrictions, so residents and visitors are urged to check posted signs and variable message boards for the most up-to-date information. Details are also available on the official city website, boston.gov.
