**Kochi, Kerala:** Actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested by Kochi police today on charges of drug use and conspiracy. He was booked under sections 27 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrest followed a four-hour interrogation at Ernakulam North police station. The charges against him are bailable.
Police are investigating Shine’s connection with drug dealer Sajir. Shine initially denied knowing Sajir, claiming he fled a hotel when police arrived believing a group to be gangsters. However, under intense questioning and after examination of his WhatsApp chats, call logs, and Google Pay account, Shine admitted to a financial transaction with Sajir, involving 20,000 rupees on the day he fled. He also admitted to knowing Sajir. Police will be collecting samples including his nails and hair for further analysis. While Shine claimed he did not use drugs on that day, and did not possess any drugs, drug tests will be conducted based on his statements.
The arrest comes amidst ongoing investigations into drug use within the film industry. The police investigation continues.
