**Kolkata, West Bengal:** The Alipore Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for widespread rain and thunderstorms across South Bengal, including Kolkata, through Saturday. The forecast predicts scattered thunderstorms with lightning, and some districts may experience hailstorms associated with Nor’westers (Kalbaishakhi). The likelihood of severe thunderstorms will increase on Thursday and Friday.

South Bengal is expected to see scattered thunderstorms with light to moderate rain and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Thursday will see particularly heavy thunderstorms and gusty winds (up to 60 kmph) in North 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, East and West Burdwan districts, with a possibility of Nor’wester conditions. Similar conditions are predicted for East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, and Purulia districts on Friday. Saturday will also see a high probability of thunderstorms in several South Bengal districts, although the intensity is expected to decrease afterwards. Temperature fluctuations will remain minor, with slight dips during rainfall and rises under sunny conditions.

North Bengal is also under a thunderstorm warning for Wednesday, with light to moderate rain and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) predicted for several districts. The intensity is expected to increase on Thursday before subsiding on Friday.

Kolkata will experience partly cloudy skies with higher humidity during the day on Wednesday, leading to discomfort. Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are expected in the afternoon or evening. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.2°C and the maximum at 34.2°C. Humidity levels range from 45% to 88%.
