Fri Apr 18 02:03:09 UTC 2025: ## US Airstrikes Kill Dozens in Yemen, Death Toll Rises

**Dubai, April 18, 2025** – The death toll from recent US airstrikes targeting the Ras Isa oil port in Yemen has risen to 38, with 102 more wounded, Houthi rebels reported Monday. The April 14th attack is one of the deadliest in the ongoing US campaign against the Iran-backed group, which began March 15th.

While US Central Command confirmed the strikes, it declined to comment on civilian casualties, stating the action aimed to eliminate a fuel source for the Houthis and cut off their revenue. The strikes follow a US State Department warning in early April threatening action against any entities supporting the Houthis.

The US airstrikes were launched after Houthi threats to resume targeting ships, broadly defined as “Israeli,” in response to Israel’s blockade of aid to Gaza. Houthi attacks on merchant vessels between November 2023 and January 2025 resulted in two sunken ships and four sailor deaths. Attacks against US warships were unsuccessful.

The US campaign, which shows no sign of abating, is also linked to efforts to pressure Iran over its nuclear program, according to the Trump administration.
