NEW YORK – “Today” show co-hosts have offered an update on Sheinelle Jones’ absence, confirming she is taking an extended leave to focus on a family health matter. Jones, who hasn’t been on the show since December 18th, initially announced her leave in January via Instagram.

Craig Melvin, co-host of “Today’s Third Hour,” recently told Access Hollywood that he spoke with Jones and that she’s spending time with her family. Dylan Dreyer, another “Third Hour” anchor, confirmed Jones will return to the show eventually, emphasizing that she’s taking the time she needs. Al Roker added that the entire “Today” team is supporting Jones.

While the specifics of the family health matter remain private, co-hosts have expressed their support and affection for Jones, repeatedly stating they miss her and look forward to her return. Her absence has coincided with other changes on the show, including Hoda Kotb’s departure. Melvin, who replaced Kotb, previously shared how Jones offered him advice and expressed her happiness at working with him.
