Fri Apr 18 15:18:16 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Opposition Declares Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Ministerial Candidate

**PATNA, Bihar (April 18, 2025)** – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha declared Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the RJD and former Deputy Chief Minister, as the Mahagathbandhan alliance’s Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Jha stated on Friday that Yadav’s candidacy is an undeniable truth, comparing it to the sun rising in the east.

While a formal announcement wasn’t made during Thursday’s INDIA bloc coordination committee meeting, Jha’s declaration follows Yadav’s recent appointment as head of the committee. Both Yadav and Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru avoided directly addressing the CM candidacy question after the meeting. However, senior RJD leaders, including party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, have consistently supported Yadav as their preferred CM candidate.

Jha also criticized the Union government’s Waqf (Amendment) Act, praising the Supreme Court’s intervention and highlighting the RJD’s legal challenge to the Act. He accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of remaining silent on the issue, suggesting a compromise with the BJP. Jha emphasized the RJD’s commitment to defending the rights of all religious communities in India.
