Fri Apr 18 10:31:50 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Launches Statewide E-Waste Collection Drive
**VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh (April 18, 2025)** – Andhra Pradesh is launching a state-wide initiative to combat e-waste pollution. The “Swachha Andhra-Swachha Diwas” program, held on the third Saturday of each month, will focus on collecting and reusing electronic waste from homes and businesses across urban and rural areas. This Saturday’s theme, “e-Check,” aims to address the growing environmental hazard posed by discarded electronics.
Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, P. Narayana, instructed officials to ensure the program’s success. He emphasized the importance of public participation and announced the establishment of dedicated e-waste collection centers in municipalities, with existing RRR (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) centers being converted for this purpose. Women from self-help groups will be responsible for collecting the e-waste.
Currently, 222 e-waste collection centers are operational statewide, with several companies partnering to reuse the collected materials. These centers will maintain daily operations. The initiative reflects the Chief Minister’s vision of a 100% clean state. Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, Swachha Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram, and MD Anil Kumar Reddy were also present at the announcement.
