Fri Apr 18 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Mystery Bite Almost Sidelines Texas Rangers Pitcher Patrick Corbin

**ARLINGTON, TX** – Texas Rangers pitcher Patrick Corbin overcame a bizarre obstacle to earn his first win of the season Wednesday night, a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Just hours before taking the mound, Corbin was a game-time decision due to a mysterious bite on his foot that caused significant swelling and made walking difficult.

Corbin revealed Thursday that he was bitten two days prior to the game, but remains unsure of the culprit. “Something bit me, but I still don’t know what it was,” he said. “It was super weird.” The swelling was so severe Wednesday morning that manager Bruce Bochy admitted it was a “50/50” chance Corbin would pitch.

Despite the pain and his wife’s concerns, Corbin received treatment and managed to pitch 5⅓ innings, allowing only one run. While he still felt soreness Thursday, he expressed confidence that the incident wouldn’t require a stint on the injured list. “I was fortunate to get through yesterday,” Corbin stated. “I have some time to recover and be good to go.”

The two-time All-Star, in his 13th major league season and first with the Rangers, now holds a 1-0 record with a 3.86 ERA after two starts. The Rangers will be hoping the mystery bite is a one-off incident as they look forward to his continued contributions this season.
