**Lucknow, April 18, 2025** – Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has strongly condemned the reported demolition of a Jain temple in Mumbai, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of systematically targeting the Jain community across India. In a post on X, Yadav expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity felt by the Jain community, citing the Mumbai demolition as the latest in a series of incidents.
Yadav highlighted several alleged instances of aggression against Jains, including a violent attack on Jain monks in Madhya Pradesh, a leaked audio clip containing allegedly offensive remarks against Jains by BJP members in Jabalpur, and the alleged disrespect shown to sacred idols and scriptures during the Mumbai temple demolition. He questioned the frequency of such incidents in states governed by the BJP.
The SP leader further alleged that the BJP is solely interested in the Jain community’s donations and votes, neglecting their religious and community rights. He referenced past controversies, including incidents at Shri Girnar Ji in Gujarat, Shri Sammed Shikhar Ji, and opposition to a Jain idol installation in Uttar Pradesh, as well as the 2022 killing of a Jain man allegedly by a BJP supporter.
Yadav emphasized that the Jain community, while numerically small, is a vital part of the larger PDA alliance. He assured the community of the alliance’s support, stating that such actions will not weaken their resolve. He concluded with a sharp criticism of the BJP, stating the party’s loyalty is questionable.
