Fri Apr 18 00:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Rays Blast Braves in Sellout Game, Caminero’s Homer Fuels 8-3 Victory

**TAMPA, FL** – Junior Caminero’s three-run home run powered the Tampa Bay Rays to an 8-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The win gives the Rays two out of three in their weekend series against the Braves.

Yandy Díaz also homered for Tampa Bay, contributing to their highest-scoring game of the season. Rays pitcher Joe Boyle, making a spot start, dominated early, pitching no-hit ball into the sixth inning and striking out seven batters. Although he was charged with two unearned runs after an error and ultimately allowed three runs in the sixth, Caminero’s crucial home run in the bottom of the inning erased the deficit.

Despite a strong start from reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale (four runs, six hits, seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings), the Braves struggled offensively, managing only four hits. Their road woes continued, dropping their record to 1-9 away from home. Christopher Morel’s RBI single also contributed to the Rays’ early lead.

The Rays’ victory allowed them to push star pitcher Shane Baz back to Monday’s game against the Boston Red Sox. Baz will start against the Red Sox while Grant Holmes will take the mound for the Braves in their Monday night game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
