**Radford, VA –** Radford University issued a secure-in-place order Thursday following reports of a shooting near campus. The Radford City Police Department is investigating a shooting incident in the 1400 block of East Main Street and described the suspects as two Black males; one wearing a white shirt and the other wearing a yellow and red shirt. A subsequent alert provided additional detail, describing one suspect as having dreadlocks and wearing a green long-sleeved shirt.
The university issued multiple alerts via X (formerly Twitter) urging students and staff to remain indoors and avoid the area. Police are currently on the scene. The extent of any injuries is currently unclear. The suspects remain at large and have not yet been apprehended.
This incident comes on the same day as a separate shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, where at least one person was killed and six others were wounded. A suspect has been taken into custody in that incident.
