Thu Apr 17 23:37:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana High Court Halts Group-I Appointments Pending Investigation
**Hyderabad, April 18, 2025** – The Telangana High Court has issued an interim order halting the issuance of appointment letters for Group-I government posts in Telangana. The order follows a writ petition filed by 20 candidates who allege irregularities in the evaluation process of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) examination.
Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao directed the state government to pause appointments but allowed the verification of candidate certificates to proceed. The petitioners claim numerous irregularities, including inconsistencies in the number of exam centers, unusual variations in candidate’s marks (including a case where 60 marks were deducted after a recount), and a suspiciously high number of top-ranking candidates from specific exam centers. They are seeking a court-monitored or independent judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities and potentially a re-evaluation or re-examination.
The petitioners’ counsel argued that the TSPSC’s procedures raised significant concerns, citing discrepancies in hall ticket numbers and the method of releasing results. The TSPSC counsel, however, refuted these claims, promising to provide the court with details of the examination process. They also noted that a candidate whose marks were reduced after a recount is under investigation for potential data tampering.
The court has adjourned the case until April 28th to allow for further investigation and submissions from both sides. The interim order leaves the fate of hundreds of aspiring government employees in limbo until the court reaches a final decision.
