**VIZIANAGARAM, Andhra Pradesh, April 18, 2025** – Congress Working Committee member and former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s alleged pursuit of “communal politics,” citing widespread public support for recent Muslim protests against amendments to the Waqf Act.

Mr. Raju stated that the April 16th protests, which he claimed received significant support from Hindus as well, demonstrated the public’s rejection of divisive agendas. He asserted that the Congress party, unlike the BJP-led NDA government, is committed to religious harmony and secularism. He highlighted the Congress’s long-standing commitment to the co-existence of all faiths.

Mr. Raju further accused the BJP of using the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheets against Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case as a distraction tactic, timed to coincide with the Waqf Act protests. He defended the Gandhi family’s reputation, emphasizing their commitment to public service. He expressed confidence that the Hindu community recognizes the BJP’s alleged misuse of social media to promote a communal agenda and will ultimately reject such tactics.
