VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar has firmly denied claims of a recent power tariff increase, asserting that rates have remained unchanged since the TDP-led coalition government assumed power in June 2024. Speaking at the inauguration of a new substation on Thursday, Minister Ravikumar accused the YSRCP party of spreading false information to damage the coalition’s reputation. He attributed the current electricity costs to significant price hikes implemented during the YSRCP’s tenure.
The Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to lowering electricity costs and improving power infrastructure, emphasizing efforts to bolster the power supply network to support industrial growth and seaport development. He also urged officials to promote the PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum schemes, which aim to empower households and farmers with self-sufficient energy production, thereby reducing electricity bills and ensuring uninterrupted daytime power for agriculture. Minister Ravikumar concluded by noting Andhra Pradesh’s substantial renewable energy potential and the government’s ambition to lead the nation in harnessing it. Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowri and Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad were in attendance.
