Fri Apr 18 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## HBO Unveils Star-Studded Cast for “Harry Potter” Series

**Los Angeles, CA** – HBO has officially announced the first wave of casting for its highly anticipated “Harry Potter” television series, revealing a lineup of acclaimed actors to portray iconic characters. The series will feature John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Rounding out the initial cast are Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement over the casting, stating, “We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.”

While the principal roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione remain to be filled – following an open casting call that drew over 30,000 submissions last fall – this announcement marks a significant step forward for the project. HBO promises a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s globally renowned books, exploring every corner of the wizarding world across multiple seasons.

Filming is expected to commence this summer. The series is a collaboration between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, Warner Bros. Television, and Heyday Films, with Rowling herself serving as an executive producer.
