Fri Apr 18 17:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Gas Prices Dip Below National Average in North Carolina for Holiday Weekend

**Raleigh, NC –** North Carolinians hitting the road for the holiday weekend will enjoy some relief at the pump. Gas prices in the state are currently averaging $2.85 per gallon, significantly lower than the national average of $3.16, according to AAA. This represents a 50-cent decrease compared to last year.

In the state capital, Raleigh, drivers can find even better deals, with average prices around $2.90 and some stations offering gas as low as $2.62 per gallon. The lowest prices in the nation are currently found in Mississippi and Tennessee, at $2.70 per gallon.

GasBuddy attributes the price drop to ongoing trade war negotiations that are influencing global oil prices. However, the future remains uncertain, according to Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis. He notes that fluctuating trade policies could impact gas prices significantly, either through tariffs that lower costs or a lack of tariffs that could drive prices up.

While drivers enjoy the lower prices, AAA is urging caution this holiday weekend. With increased traffic volume expected, drivers are reminded to be aware of potentially impaired drivers and to plan for safe travel. They strongly advise against driving under the influence of alcohol.
