**New Delhi, April 18, 2025** – Delhi experienced a scorching Friday, with the maximum temperature reaching 41 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above normal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has offered some respite, predicting rain and thunderstorms for the evening and into Saturday.
Friday’s minimum temperature was a balmy 25.6 degrees Celsius, also 4 degrees above normal. Humidity levels fluctuated throughout the day.
The IMD forecast for Saturday calls for partly cloudy skies turning generally cloudy in the evening. Very light rain or drizzle is likely, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and dust storms. Strong winds, gusting up to 60 kilometers per hour, are expected. Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly, with a high of 38 degrees Celsius and a low of 26 degrees Celsius.
Air quality on Friday afternoon was classified as “poor,” with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 219.
