**Chennai, India – April 18, 2025** – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced the signing of South African batsman Dewald Brevis as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The 21-year-old Brevis, known for his explosive batting style, joins CSK for a fee of Rs 2.2 crore.
Brevis, a rising star in T20 cricket, has impressed in various leagues including the IPL, CPL, MLC, and SA20. He was a key player in MI Cape Town’s SA20 title win in 2023, finishing as the sixth-highest run-scorer with 291 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 184.17. In his 81 T20 matches, he has amassed 1,787 runs, including a highest score of 162. He has also represented South Africa in two T20I matches. Previously, Brevis played 10 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians.
