Fri Apr 18 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Political Drama Unfolds in Tirupati Over TTD Gosala Cow Deaths
**TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh, April 17, 2025** – A political showdown erupted in Tirupati today over allegations of over 100 cow deaths at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Gosala. The controversy ignited after former TTD chairman, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, accused the TTD of negligence.
The situation escalated as opposition party MLAs and leaders attempted to visit the Gosala to investigate the claims. Police, anticipating potential clashes, initially restricted access, allowing only five leaders and their security personnel at a time. However, Mr. Reddy defied this restriction, arriving with a larger group, leading to a tense standoff with police. He staged a sit-in protest on the ground when police prevented his entry.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swami criticized the police’s actions, stating that preventing Mr. Reddy’s visit was not the right approach. Meanwhile, YSRCP MLA Roja questioned the silence of Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan on the issue, given his emphasis on Sanātana Dharma.
Mr. Reddy presented a statement from the Gosala manager, confirming the deaths of 191 cows up to March of this year. He maintained his willingness to visit the Gosala at any time. Other opposition leaders, including MP Gurumurthy and several MLAs, also attempted to visit the Gosala, resulting in brief arguments with police before being allowed entry. Bhumana Abhinay, also attempted to visit but was stopped and taken into preventative custody. Throughout the day, heavy police presence was maintained at the Gosala and the homes of key political figures to prevent further escalation. The situation remained tense but under control by the afternoon.
