Thu Apr 17 10:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Man Accused of Threatening UnitedHealthcare Headquarters Held Without Bond

**MINNETONKA, MN** – Ian Wagner, 26, was ordered held without bond Wednesday following his arrest for allegedly threatening to shoot up the UnitedHealthcare headquarters in Minnetonka. Wagner, who reportedly suffers from mental illness according to his mother, appeared in court wearing a self-harm prevention flak jacket and shouted “power, money, and corruption” during the proceedings.

Authorities revealed multiple attempts to apprehend Wagner on Monday morning for a probation violation, hours before the alleged incident. Deputies visited his parents’ home and his apartment, but Wagner had fled to his grandparents’ house, retrieved a firearm, and then went to the UHC campus. Ring doorbell camera footage confirms the deputies’ visit to his parents’ home.

Wagner’s mother, Cheryl, expressed heartbreak and helplessness, stating her son desperately needs mental health treatment. She and her husband attended the court appearance hoping for intervention. Hennepin County officials detailed the challenges in apprehending Wagner due to his electronic home monitoring device lacking GPS capabilities, only alerting authorities when he was outside a designated range.

The incident comes amidst heightened security concerns at UnitedHealthcare following the December murder of CEO Brian Thompson in New York City. The company has reportedly been paying Minnetonka police for near-daily patrols of its headquarters. The connection between Wagner’s actions and the CEO’s death remains unclear.
